some paper piecing fun

Paper Panache are hosting a fun Fairy Quilt Godmother sew along.  just go to this page, enter your email address, answer a few questions and you will be sent a link to your own personalised fairy godmother.

my fairy quilt godmother is called... Pillobella.  i have no idea what she looks like yet!  i have saved the pattern (but not looked at it), hopefully i will find some motivation on Saturday and start sewing her.

if i get her finished before the middle of August i can enter her into the Fairy Quilt Godmother pageant

edited to add - OMG there are some tiny shreds of fabric in this design, so i don't think i will be sewing it any time soon, it is just too scary!!

NYE mystery - backing

and here is the back for my quilt.

i wanted to finish up some of these fabrics (so i didn't have to put them back in the draw!) i also used up a couple of extra blocks that i made.  the only fabric that is going back in the draw is about 1m of the white dot

i tried going outside to get a nice photo, but our cloudy day is refusing to let me take a nice photo

NYE mystery - quilt top

the top is all together, the binding is ready and i am in the process of making the back.  i like to get the binding and backing ready so that when i bag this quilt up (to go in my "quilting" pile) it is all ready to go - all i need to add is wadding and thread... this helps to stop me procrastinating!

i add a row to the top and bottom of the quilt to finish off the pattern and to make it rectangular.   i decided against adding a row to each of the sides because i didn't want the quilt to be too big (and it would have been wider than the fabrics that i want to use as the backing (i will post a photo of the backing later today)

let me apologise in advance for my poor photography skills - the quilt is bright and cheerful in person (not as drab as the photo makes it seem) and the yellow fabric has glitter in it.

apocketfulofmysteries - clue #17

all done... it has been finished for hours, but i took a while to post the photo!  the color combination is lovely and i am happy with how the finished top is looking - even if it isn't my normal color choices

and my little quilt helper in the corner of the photo!

i decided to put this quilt on the couch to take a photo, when i stood back i realised that this quilt will be perfect on my couch in the lounge room.  the walls are a very pale khaki color and the couch is a medium green - very similar to the colors in the quilt

apocketfulofmysteries - clue #11 and #12

four block D's and 12 block E's
and that is the last of the blocks!! next step it to assemble this into a top

apocketfulofmysteries - clue #13

four block F's.... my last clue for tonight, because i am off to bed
